How to Enable WiFi Calling on Your Device?

Enabling WiFi Calling on your VLE Mobile service is simple and takes just a few minutes. Once activated, your phone will automatically use WiFi for calls when connected to a network, providing seamless connectivity wherever you have internet access.


iPhone Setup Instructions


For iPhone 5c and newer:


  1. Ensure WiFi is Connected

    • Go to Settings > WiFi

    • Connect to your preferred network

    • Verify connection with a checkmark

  2. Enable WiFi Calling

    • Open Settings

    • Tap Phone

    • Select WiFi Calling

    • Toggle WiFi Calling on This iPhone to ON (green)

  3. Emergency Address Setup

    • You'll be prompted to enter an emergency address

    • This is required for 911 services

    • Enter your primary address

    • Tap Save

  4. Confirmation

    • You'll see "VLE Mobile WiFi" in your status bar

    • The carrier name changes when WiFi Calling is active

    • A phone icon appears next to the WiFi symbol


Additional iPhone Settings:


  • Add WiFi Calling for Other Devices: Allows calls on iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch

  • Prefer WiFi While Roaming: Automatically uses WiFi when traveling

  • Update Emergency Address: Change address when traveling


Android Setup Instructions


For Compatible Android Devices:


  1. Connect to WiFi

    • Go to Settings > Network & Internet > WiFi

    • Select and connect to your network

    • Ensure strong signal strength

  2. Access WiFi Calling Settings

    Samsung Devices:

    • Settings > Connections > WiFi Calling

    • Toggle WiFi Calling ON


    Google Pixel:

    • Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network

    • Tap Advanced > WiFi Calling

    • Toggle ON


    Other Android:

    • Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network

    • Look for the WiFi Calling option

    • Enable the feature

  3. Configure Preferences

    • Select WiFi Preferred or Cellular Preferred

    • WiFi Preferred: Uses WiFi whenever available

    • Cellular Preferred: Uses cellular unless signal is weak

  4. Emergency Address

    • Enter your emergency location

    • This is mandatory for emergency services

    • Update when traveling

Troubleshooting Activation Issues


If WiFi Calling Won't Enable:


  1. Check Compatibility

    • Verify your phone model supports WiFi Calling

    • Ensure the latest software updates are installed

    • Confirm phone is unlocked or VLE Mobile compatible

  2. Network Settings Reset (iPhone)

    • Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone

    • Reset > Reset Network Settings

    • Re-enable WiFi Calling after reset

  3. Network Settings Reset (Android)

    • Settings > System > Reset Options

    • Reset WiFi, Mobile & Bluetooth

    • Reconfigure WiFi Calling

  4. Airplane Mode Toggle

    • Enable Airplane Mode

    • Turn WiFi back ON while in Airplane Mode

    • Try enabling WiFi Calling

    • Disable Airplane Mode


Verifying WiFi Calling is Working


Visual Indicators:


iPhone:


  • "VLE Mobile WiFi" or "VLE WiFi" in the status bar

  • WiFi calling icon near signal bars

  • Phone icon next to WiFi symbol


Android:


  • WiFi calling icon in status bar

  • "WiFi" indicator during calls

  • Notification showing WiFi Calling active


Test Your Setup:


  1. Make a Test Call

    • Ensure you are connected to WiFi

    • Turn on Airplane Mode

    • Enable WiFi while in Airplane Mode

    • Place a call - it should connect via WiFi

  2. Check Call Quality

    • The call should connect normally

    • Audio quality should be clear

    • No unusual delays or echoes


Pro Tips:


  • Strong WiFi Required: Minimum 1 Mbps for voice

  • Router Location: Stay within good WiFi range

  • Network Priority: Set based on your coverage

  • Multiple Networks: Phone remembers WiFi Calling settings per network
